Evernote Shutting Down Online 'Market' for Physical Products

In 2013, Evernote decided to start selling physical products — things similar scanners, wallets, messenger bags, and notebooks. Now, the note-taking app maker has decided to stick with what information technology'southward expert at: making software.

Evernote on Monday appear information technology will shut downwards its Evernote Market on Feb. 3.

"Evernote is a software company," the visitor'due south director of partnerships, John Hoye, wrote in a blog mail service. "Building and perfecting the Evernote experience is where we'll be focusing our futurity efforts."

So, starting tomorrow, Evernote will stop selling products to customers straight. The Evernote Market isn't going abroad completely, but it volition only promote and link to "Evernote-integrated" products from the company'south partners like Adonit, Moleskine, and PFU.

This isn't the starting time Evernote production to get the axe in recent months as the company works to simplify its product line and refocus on its core app. Evernote in December gave the boost-ho to three products: its Clearly extension, designed to make Web pages more than readable; its Skitch annotation app for Windows, Windows Bear on, iOS, and Android; and its Pebble smartwatch app. Earlier that, the visitor ended support for its Food app.

The company has faced some major challenges in recent months, starting with the departure of CEO Phil Libin in July. Two months later, the company laid off xiii percent of its workforce, or 47 employees, and airtight three international offices — the second circular of pink slips after letting 20 people get in January 2022.
